Compare the Ginormous Grow Shark and Soak n' Grow Animals on growth potential, reusability, and price to find the right water grow toy for your child.
Quick answer
The Ginormous Grow Shark grows dramatically larger—up to six times its original size and nearly 19 inches long—while Soak n' Grow Animals expand into small figures. Choose the shark for a big, reusable spectacle; choose the animals for affordable party favors and variety.
Growth potential: dramatic size vs. small surprises
The Ginormous Grow Shark is built for a wow moment: it can reach nearly 19 inches, making it a standout water grow toy for kids who want to see a big change. Soak n' Grow Animals grow larger than their starting size but stay small figures, so the surprise is quicker and less dramatic. If your child is fascinated by the growth process itself, the shark delivers more visible change.
Reusability and long-term play
The Ginormous Grow Shark can be dried out and grown again, so it works as a repeatable experiment. Soak n' Grow Animals are described as a fun surprise for party favors and gifts; the catalog does not state whether they can be regrown. If you want a toy that can be used over and over, the shark is the safer bet based on the supplied information.
Price and quantity trade-off
At $6.49 (compared to $9.99), the Ginormous Grow Shark is a single larger toy. Soak n' Grow Animals are $2.03 (compared to $2.99) each and come in assorted animal options, making them easy to buy in multiples for party favors or classroom prizes. The shark costs more per unit but offers a bigger, reusable experience; the animals cost less per child but are smaller and may not be reusable.
Presentation and packaging
The Ginormous Grow Shark comes in its own clear plastic packet with a blue ocean cardboard backing and peggable top, which makes it suitable for retail display or as a ready-to-give gift. Soak n' Grow Animals are described as perfect for party favors and gifts, though specific packaging details are not supplied. If presentation matters, the shark's packaging is a clear advantage.
Key trade-offs to weigh
